Colin Kaepernick officially completed his Million Dollar Pledge on January 31 — but several celebrities, like Yara Shahidi, are helping to keep the campaign going.
The pledge, which began in September 2016, vowed to donate $1 million to charities in need. The idea was originally designed to take his kneeling protest one step further, as the former quarterback explained at a post-game press conference. "It was something I was thinking about to try to make sure I am not just talking about something, but I am actively being involved and actively trying to make a change in these communities," he said at the time.
As noted by Sports Illustrated, during the last $100,000 of the pledge, Kaepernick created the #10for10 campaign, where he made $10,000 donations to 10 different charities, all of which were matched by various stars. But after he met his goal, even more celebrities got involved — the youngest of whom, to date, is Yara.
