Hazel Scott, a pianist and singer, becomes one of the first African American network television hosts with the debut of The Hazel Scott Show on DuMont Television Network. The episodes run for 15 minutes and feature music performed by Scott.

Ethel Waters becomes the first black woman to have her own television show, "The Ethel Waters Show," where she showcases her singing talent and interviews guests.
